Looking to move to a 33' BFin Flybridge from my 2006 26' Southport CC. Have experience on the 33' and love the way they ride, layout etc. Does anyone have any experience, advice, horror stories on making a move from a "newer" boat into an "older" classic BFin (in particular the 33' Flybridge) presuming the boat has been kept up by the current owner? I'm not mechanically inclined...don't mind spending money on maintenance/upkeep (I know, it's a boat) but want to go into this with eyes wide open.
I'm looking solely at the 33' Flybridge. I'm familiar with all of the current listings so if anyone has one available that's not listed on Yachtworld, Boattrader, let me know. Budget is $100k.

I really like the 33 Flybridges - if you want a flybridge
The biggest issue with BF33's is choice of engine. The came mostly with CAT 3208's (375, 435/450 hp), but also, depending upon year, with CAT 3126's, Cummins 420C & 450C Volvo TAMD-73/74's.
I am not a big fan of the CAT 3208's, especially the 435/450 hp versions (read all about them on boatdiesel.com). I would pay a $20-25,000 premium for the Cummins C's or CAT 3126's and a $10-15,000 premium for the Vovlo's (just because the parts and cost to fix are much higher that CAT or Cummins).

I have a 33 FB and have learned more than I want to know about them. Great boat tho. I agree be carefull with the 435 HP but maintained well they could be ok cat 3208s the 375Cats are not bad And the 320 non turbo are fine but I know how you east coasters like to go 30 kts everywhere....haha. Happy shopping!
